About transformation effects

Transformation effects change what a photo is: an old print starts to move, a portrait ages or grows younger, a still scene turns into a short shot. The most used ones are the quiet ones, like animating an old family photograph so the person blinks, smiles and turns their head.

These effects are restrained on purpose. A good old-photo animation adds a few seconds of natural movement and leaves the face alone; it should still look like the person. If a result changes the face too much, the usual cause is a small or blurry source. Scan the print or photograph it in daylight, straight on, and crop to the person before you upload.

Black-and-white and faded photos are fine. Tears, heavy creases and writing across the face are harder, because the model has to guess what was underneath.

Transformation effects: questions

Will the person still look like themselves?

That is the goal. Clear, front-facing photos keep the likeness best. If a result drifts, try a sharper scan or a tighter crop.

Can I use black-and-white photos?

Yes. The animation keeps the original look of the photo unless the effect says it adds colour.

How do I get a good scan of a print?

Lay the print flat in daylight without flash, photograph it straight from above and crop out the border.

Are my family photos kept?

No. Uploaded photos and generated videos are deleted automatically within 30 days, and you can delete them yourself at any time.
