How it is made
The 80s Look AI prompt and model
80s Look AI is made with Seedance 2.0 / 2.5 (you pick the tier) by ByteDance. The prompt behind it has 5 parts, and the timing is what makes or breaks it.
- Model
- Seedance 2.0 / 2.5 (you pick the tier)
- Mode
- Photo + motion reference to video
- Length
- 12 seconds, 9:16 or 16:9
- Input
- 1 photo
- Identity lock Your photo is the only source for the face, skin tone, age and build; only the hair and clothes are restyled.
- Motion reference A short clip supplies the walk, the sunglasses tip and the lean on the car, and nothing else.
- Scene and styling One 1980s place and one outfit set, from the hairstyle to the sneakers, with a period car parked at the kerb.
- Timeline Three beats over 12 seconds: the walk toward the lens, the look over the sunglasses, the pose against the car.
- Rules Nothing modern in frame, no badges or readable plates, film grain without a soft face, no text or date stamp.
Photorealistic live-action footage with a 1980s analog film look, 12 seconds, one continuous take, shot like a 1986 music video on 35mm film…
Why it goes wrong when you do it yourself
- Image-to-video tools often restyle the face along with the hair, so the person at second 10 is no longer you.
- Asked for "80s", models slip in smartphones, modern cars and LED signs unless the prompt rules them out.
- Heavy grain and VHS effects soften the face; the look has to stay on the background and clothes, not on your features.
- Without a motion reference the clip drifts into slow motion or a random dance instead of the walk and sunglasses beat.

A clear, front-facing photo with your whole face visible. Head and shoulders is enough; the 1980s hair and outfit are added for you.

Press Generate and the 12-second clip is rendered for you. It is an MP4 with no watermark and the trend's original sound already on it.
Post it, or grab a still
Post it as it is with the trend's original sound already on it, or swap the sound in Instagram, TikTok or CapCut if you like. Need the 80s look photo too? Pause on the frame you like and screenshot it.
What is the 80s Look AI trend?
Updated · videosi is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, or with the owners of any trend, song, game or brand named on its pages.
The 80s look is a photo trend before it is a video one. People upload a selfie to ChatGPT or Gemini with a short prompt, something like "what would I have looked like in the 80s", and get back a portrait with big teased or feathered hair, a denim jacket or a neon windbreaker, hoop earrings and a bedroom or street full of boomboxes and posters, finished with warm film grain.
On TikTok the "80s AI trend" was already circulating in early September 2026, with CapCut templates and ChatGPT prompt tutorials dated from 1 to 20 September. In October 2026 a second wave started on Instagram under the name "80s look AI photo editing", driven by Indian editing channels posting prompt tutorials for boys, girls and couples. Some of those creators have moved on to "80s look AI video editing", turning the still into a moving clip.
There is no single sound. Posts we checked used different 1980s pop songs and original sounds, so the video comes with the trend's original sound and you can swap it on TikTok if you like.
This page makes the video version directly. Instead of a still, you get 12 seconds of yourself in 1986 styling: walking toward the camera on a neon street or a Miami sunset drive, tipping your sunglasses down and leaning on a period car. If you want a photo for your post, pause on any frame and screenshot it.
80s Look AI: shot by shot
- 0–7 s
The walk
You walk toward the camera past a parked 1980s car, sunglasses on, in full period hair and outfit. The framing tightens as you come closer.
- 7–9.5 s
Over the sunglasses
You stop near the lens, tip the sunglasses down with one finger and look straight into the camera with a small smile.
- 9.5–12 s
The lean
You step back and lean against the front of the car, one hand on it, and hold the pose until the clip ends.
Tips for a better result
Show your whole face
Front-facing, eyes open, nothing covering the face. The clip adds its own sunglasses, so leave yours off in the photo.
Any hair works
Your natural hair colour is kept and restyled into a 1980s cut, so short, long or tied-back hair are all fine.
Even light beats a filter
A plain daylight photo works better than a beauty-filtered one. Filters smooth the features the model needs to keep your likeness.
One person per photo
Crop group or couple photos down to just you. For a couple edit, make one clip each and join them in CapCut.
Good to know before you make a 80s Look AI video
- This page makes a video, not a single 80s look photo; take a screenshot of any frame if you need a still.
- Your hair and clothes are replaced with 1980s styling, while your face, skin tone and build come from your photo.
- One person per video. Couple and family versions need one clip per person.
- The video comes with the trend's original sound, and likeness is not guaranteed. A failed, timed-out or blocked render returns its credits automatically.

80s Look AI: questions
What is the 80s look AI trend?
The 80s look AI trend turns an ordinary selfie into a picture of how you might have looked in the 1980s: big hair, denim or a neon windbreaker, film grain and a retro room or street behind you. It ran on TikTok from September 2026 and in October 2026 became an Instagram photo editing wave in India. videosi makes the 12-second video version from one photo.
What does "80s look" mean in the AI trend?
"80s look" means looking like you were photographed in the 1980s: permed or feathered big hair, mullets, denim jackets, shoulder pads, neon windbreakers, hoop earrings and the warm, grainy colour of 1980s film. In the 2026 AI trend it means getting that look from one selfie, and videosi turns it into a 12-second video.
How do I make an 80s look AI video from my photo?
Upload one clear photo to videosi, pick Neon night street or Miami sunset, choose 9:16 or 16:9 and press Generate. You get a 12-second 80s look AI video in which you walk toward the camera, tip your sunglasses down and lean on a vintage car. You write no prompt; the styling and movement are built in.
Does this make an 80s look photo or a video?
videosi makes a video, not a single image: a 12-second MP4 of you in 1980s styling, with the trend's original sound already on it. Most 80s look AI tutorials stop at a still picture made in ChatGPT or Gemini. If you only need the photo for your Instagram post or DP, pause the videosi clip on the frame you like and take a screenshot, or export one frame in CapCut.
What is the 80s look AI photo editing prompt?
Tutorials paste a prompt such as "what would I have looked like in the 80s" into ChatGPT or Gemini with a selfie; the wording varies and changes between videos. videosi does not publish its full prompt. Its 80s look video uses a five-part prompt plus a 12-second motion reference, and you never type it: you only upload the photo and pick one of 2 looks.
Is there an 80s look AI website or app?
Yes. videosi (videosi.io) is a web tool that makes the 80s look AI video in the browser from one photo, on a phone or a computer, with no app to install. The MP4 downloads without a watermark. A standard 12-second video (Standard model, 720p) is 10 credits. videosi is independent and not made by OpenAI, Google, Instagram or CapCut.
Is there an Instagram filter or CapCut template for the 80s look?
CapCut users post "AI takes you back to the 80s" templates, and they change often, so search inside CapCut. As of October 2026 there is no official Instagram 80s look effect we could confirm. videosi is not a filter: it is a web tool that turns one photo into a 12-second 80s look video you can post to Reels with the trend's original sound already on it.
