Why does my moonwalk AI video look like walking backwards, or not like me?

The two usual problems with a 6-second moonwalk AI video on videosi are a photo with the feet cut off and a dark or face-covered photo. The glide comes from footwork, so show the whole body, shoes or paws included, and keep the face clear and well lit. Likeness is not guaranteed, and a failed or blocked render returns its credits.

Can I make myself look like Michael Jackson doing the moonwalk?

No. The videosi moonwalk AI video keeps your own face and clothes for all 6 seconds and never adds the black fedora, the single white glove or the sequin jacket. videosi does not make videos that imitate a real celebrity's look or likeness, and it is not affiliated with Michael Jackson, his estate or the 2026 film Michael.

What does moonwalk mean?

Moonwalk is the name of a dance step in which the dancer seems to walk forwards while actually gliding backwards, one foot sliding flat while the other rests on its toes. Michael Jackson made it famous in 1983. A moonwalk AI video on videosi is a 6-second clip of the person or pet in your photo doing that step.

What song is used for the moonwalk AI trend?

There is no single confirmed sound for the moonwalk AI trend. Most posts we saw use a Michael Jackson track, often tagged Billie Jean, in different edits. The 6-second videosi moonwalk AI video comes with the trend's original sound already on it, and you can swap it in TikTok, Reels or Shorts, under the platform's own music licence, if you like.

Is the moonwalk AI trend still going?

As of October 2026 the moonwalk AI trend is still being posted, mostly as pet versions: new AI cat and dog moonwalks appeared on TikTok in the week of 20 October 2026. The MJ moonwalk template tutorials peaked between May and July 2026. A videosi moonwalk AI video takes one photo and several minutes.

Can I use someone else's photo or make it for my kids?

Only an adult who has agreed to it, or your own pet. videosi does not accept photos of celebrities, public figures or minors for the moonwalk AI video, and users must be 18 or older. Photos and results are deleted within 30 days, and paid 6-second videos have no watermark, but you need the right to use the photo.

Can I make a moonwalk video with ChatGPT, Sora, Veo or Kling?

You can try, but most general video models turn a moonwalk prompt into plain backward walking or add a famous costume, and each try costs time and credits. videosi builds a real dancer's motion reference and an identity lock into its moonwalk AI video, so one photo gives a 6-second result. Label AI videos as AI when you post them.

How it is made

The Moonwalk AI Video prompt and model

Moonwalk AI Video is made with Seedance 2.0 / 2.5 (you pick the tier) by ByteDance. The prompt behind it has 5 parts, and the timing is what makes or breaks it.

Model: Seedance 2.0 / 2.5 (you pick the tier)
Mode: Photo + motion reference to video
Length: 6 seconds, 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9
Input: 1 photo

Identity lock Your photo is the only source for the face, hair or fur, build and outfit; a pet stays the same animal and stands up on its hind legs to dance.
Motion reference A real dancer's moonwalk filmed on a phone in a shopping mall supplies the steps, the timing and the following camera, and nothing else.
Scene One place you pick (mall, spotlight stage or living room), no other dancers, no posters, no text.
Timeline Four beats in 6 seconds: the backward glide, the turn to camera, the leg slide and the final pose.
Rules One dancer, feet on the floor with shadows, no floating, no famous stage costume, no cuts, no text.

How it opens

Photorealistic live-action phone footage, 6 seconds, one continuous handheld take at chest height, the dancer's whole body from head to feet in frame.…

Why it goes wrong when you do it yourself

Ask a video model for a moonwalk without a motion reference and you usually get someone walking backwards or sliding on ice: the flat-foot glide with the other heel up never appears.
The word moonwalk pulls in a black fedora, a single white glove and a sequin jacket, and the face drifts toward a famous singer unless the prompt forbids it.
Pets either stay on four paws and just wiggle, or turn into a person in a pet mask, unless the prompt says exactly how an animal does the steps.
Without fixed contact shadows the dancer floats and the floor seems to move, which reads as a glitch rather than a dance move.

What is the Moonwalk AI Video trend?

Updated October 27, 2026 · videosi is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, or with the owners of any trend, song, game or brand named on its pages.

The moonwalk is the dance step in which a dancer seems to walk forwards while gliding backwards: one foot slides back flat along the floor while the other rests on its toes, then they swap. Michael Jackson made it famous on television in 1983, and it has been copied at parties, weddings and talent shows ever since.

AI versions have been posted on TikTok since at least late 2025, when AI-made cats and dogs started doing the step on stages and sofas. The format that spread most came in spring 2026: a clip of a woman moonwalking in a Brazilian shopping mall, filmed next to a cinema standee for the 2026 film Michael, became an AI template, and tutorials titled MJ moonwalk template, the earliest we found dated 4 May 2026, showed how to put anyone's photo into it. The best-liked tutorial we saw has about 31,000 likes. Pet moonwalks are still being posted in October 2026. We found no single original creator and claim no view counts.

This page makes that everyday version: from one photo, you or your pet glide backwards, turn to the camera, slide a leg out and strike a pose, in a shopping mall, on a spotlight stage or in a living room. The steps come from a real dancer's clip, not from any music video, and the dancer never gets the famous hat, glove or sequin jacket.

The video comes with the trend's original sound already on it. videosi is not affiliated with Michael Jackson, his estate or the film.

Moonwalk AI Video: shot by shot

0-2 s
Backward glide
Side-on to the camera, the dancer slides backwards, one foot flat and gliding, the other on its toes, looking over at the lens.
2-3 s
Turn to camera
A quick turn on the balls of the feet to face the camera, hair or ears swinging, hands at the hips.
3-4.5 s
Leg slide
One leg slides out to the side with the toe pointed and pulls back in, shoulders popping on the beat.
4.5-6 s
The pose
Wide stance, knees in, one hand flung out and then up to the head, eyes on the lens as the clip ends.

Tips for a better result

Show the feet
The moonwalk is all footwork. A photo with legs and shoes (or all four paws) in frame keeps the steps and your outfit right.
Stand, don't sit
A standing pose works best for people. For pets, a photo where the animal is standing or sitting up shows its shape and markings clearly.
Keep the face clear
Skip sunglasses, masks and hats so the model has your face shape and hair, or your pet's face and markings, to hold on to.
Use a bright photo
Even daylight or a well-lit room gives clean detail; dark or blurry photos lose likeness once the dancer starts moving.

Good to know before you make a Moonwalk AI Video video

Pets dance standing on their hind legs, like the AI pet moonwalks on TikTok; it is a cartoon-like move, not something a real animal does.
The backward glide is the hardest part for any video model: now and then a step looks like ordinary walking backwards instead of a smooth slide.
The video comes with the trend's original sound, and likeness is not guaranteed. A failed, timed-out or blocked render returns its credits automatically.
The dancer never gets a famous stage costume or a celebrity's face. videosi is not affiliated with Michael Jackson, his estate, the film Michael or any song's rights holders.
