How it is made
The Gas Station Dance AI prompt and model
Gas Station Dance AI is made with Seedance 2.0 / 2.5 (you pick the tier) by ByteDance. The prompt behind it has 5 parts, and the timing is what makes or breaks it.
- Model
- Seedance 2.0 / 2.5 (you pick the tier)
- Mode
- Photo + motion reference to video
- Length
- 12 seconds, 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9
- Input
- 1 photo
- Identity lock Your photo is the only source for the face, hair, build, outfit and shoes, held identical even when you turn away, spin or dip.
- Motion reference A short clip supplies the door opening, the step out and every move of the dance, with the same handheld camera, and nothing else.
- Gas station and car A bright forecourt at night under a white canopy, with the car you choose parked at the pump, door facing the camera.
- Timeline Six beats over 12 seconds, from the closed door to the clap, the spin, the low-crouch groove and the final dip.
- Rules One dancer, real weight on the ground, the door left open, no logos, plates, text or slow motion, no cuts.
Photorealistic live-action phone footage, 12 seconds, one continuous handheld shot at night at a gas station, filmed by a friend standing a few steps from the car.…
Why it goes wrong when you do it yourself
- Without a motion reference most models make a generic dance in a parking lot: the door, the exit and the crouching groove that make the meme are gone.
- When the dancer turns their back or spins, the model often swaps the face or the outfit for a different one unless the identity lock comes first.
- Feet slide across the concrete and arms pass through the car door, especially during the dip; it needs explicit rules about weight and contact.
- Each try costs model credits and several minutes, and getting the 12 seconds to land beat for beat usually takes more than one try.

What is the Gas Station Dance AI trend?
Updated · videosi is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, or with the owners of any trend, song, game or brand named on its pages.
The gas station dance is a short night clip. A car is parked at a pump under the bright canopy, the driver's door swings open, and someone hops out already moving. They clap above their head with their back to the camera, spin round, drop into a low crouch with both arms pushed forward and rock side to side, dip almost to the ground and pop back up, all in about 12 seconds of one handheld shot.
The clip the AI version copies shows a man in a white and gold outfit, dressed as Bling-Bling Boy from the cartoon Johnny Test, stepping out of a gold car and dancing at a gas station. Reposts of it were circulating on TikTok by 8 October 2026, credited to an Instagram account. In mid October it turned into an AI template: from about 16 October, CapCut template accounts were posting remakes captioned "bro turned the gas station into a whole dance floor", and comment sections filled with people asking how to make the guy dancing at the gas station. Captions also call it the gas station guy bopping or the mop dance. The song is unconfirmed: the reposts we checked use original sounds.
It is not the same as the sunset parking lot dance, a three-person clip of friends from Russia that spread in late September 2026 and is sometimes also called the gas station dance. This page makes the one-person night version.
The AI trend has only just started spreading, so names and numbers are still moving. Here the motion, the gas station and the prompt are built in; you choose the photo, the car and the format.
Gas Station Dance AI: shot by shot
- 0-1.5 s
The door
The camera waits beside the car at the pump, driver's door open. You are bent down inside, then you climb out.
- 1.5-3 s
The exit
You step out onto the forecourt already bouncing, one arm pumping up.
- 3-5 s
The clap
Back to the camera, hands clapping high above your head, you shuffle in a small half circle away from the car.
- 5-6.5 s
The spin
Hands on your head, you spin back round to face the lens.
- 6.5-9 s
The groove
The move everyone copies: low crouch, both arms pushed forward with the hands together, rocking side to side toward the camera.
- 9-12 s
Dip and finish
A deep dip almost to the ground, then you pop back up, swing an arm overhead and keep bouncing beside the open door.
Tips for a better result
Show your whole body
This is a full-body dance. A photo that shows your legs and shoes gives the model your real outfit; a face crop leaves it to invent your trousers and sneakers.
Wear something that pops at night
Most remakes use a bold outfit: a puffer jacket, a white hoodie, a suit, a costume. Light or bright colours read well under the canopy lights.
Keep the face clear
No sunglasses, masks or caps pulled low. You turn away and spin twice, and a clear face is what brings the likeness back afterwards.
One person in the photo
Use a photo of just you. Crop out friends and pets; a second face can end up on the dancer.
Good to know before you make a Gas Station Dance AI video
- This page makes the one-person night version. The three-person sunset parking lot dance is a different clip and is not part of this page.
- Fast spins and the deep dip are where AI detail slips first: a blurred hand, a sliding foot or a few frames where the face drifts can appear.
- Likeness is not guaranteed, and it drifts most right after you turn your back to the camera.
- The video comes with the trend's sound already on it. A failed, timed-out or blocked render returns its credits automatically.
